Director of Sales
Director of Sales intimates lifestyle brand committed Director of Sales who will be responsible for managing full life cycle top down approach to sales; will include all product groups from creation of category,collaborate with design on concept, design and development; work with merchandising on planning, go-to-market and life cycle management.. Director should have a strong pulse on the market and competition in order to identify opportunities that are brand appropriate, and the drive and ability to set up process, develop a team from ground up, and execute. Pre-existing relationships in the men’s and women’s wholesale retail channels is required.
Responsibilities:Advise on, implement, and execute the best processes and procedures to develop and grow the sales component of the business Build a team that will sustain the companys vision of being innovative brands / solutions in the market Define future opportunities and develop comprehensive business plans to maximize revenue potential for the company, continually aligning their vision as a progressive brand of the next generation Establish processes for management of product requirements throughout product lifecycle Determine and budget against strategic forecast Manage product calendar, including turn times and catalogue; Refine and sharpen this model Develop product requirements and communicate product vision for ongoing releases and new product opportunities Develop business plan including range plan, line plan, margin targets and creative briefing Analyze competitive landscape and user segmentation to develop a strong product roadmap Work seamlessly and support e-commerce as important sales and margin driver Work closely with the design and development teams providing strong judgment and direction when making feature/functionality/schedule trade-offs Work closely with creative marketing to develop POP, POS and advertising opportunities Deconstruct complex problems and drive the product team to arrive at effective and actionable solutions Drive product launch strategy, interact with management, manufacturing, and creative marketing to define these requirements, and coordinate required interaction
Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Business or related field; post-graduate preferred 5-10 years of experience in increasingly senior product management positions in a well-regarded apparel wholesale or specialty retail company Experience working with specialty stores and major retailers such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Macy’s, etc., and growing int'l retail partnerships and distribution deals Apparel merchandising experience w/ previous accountability to SKU efficiency and gross margin analytics Professional/personal involvement and/or relationship with women’s and men’s buyers Demonstrated ability to act as a change agent and entrepreneur, which will be evident through a proven track record of business results and market share growth Self-directed, motivated, and a strong cross-functional consensus builder Must be able to create and communicate a clear, inspiring vision and translate that vision into a practical, results-focused action plan Proven ability to define, construct, drive and build successful process and best practices in department store and specialty store markets Ability to build bench strength – capitalizing on existing talent and grooming rising stars Ability to write clearly understood documents targeted at various audiences (R&D, engineering, customers, analysts, press, management) as well as making presentations to large/small groups Ability to learn and adjust quickly to fluid business needs and growth challenges
